Instant-Runoff (Ranked Choice) Voting

Apply the instant-runoff (ranked choice) voting technique to voting on ideas, topics, and projects to pursue at your organization.

Facilitator Instructions

1) Everyone adds ideas in step 1
2) Everyone votes on ideas in order of preference
3) If no idea has a majority of the votes (>50%), start removing ideas until there’s an idea with >50% (the removed idea’s 2nd votes will be reallocated).
In the context of voting on ideas, instant-runoff or ranked choice voting ensures the winning idea has the support of the majority of voters, eliminates “,” and minority winners.

Step 1: Add your team’s top 5 ideas
